[original listing]Edwards

Kucinich

[2-1-07]
This is only an order based on my obtuse criteria:
Kucinich
Richardson
Obama
Clark
Clinton
Edwards
Vilsack
Dodd
Biden
[added 1-18-07] I will footnote at the bottom but re-arrange the above evolving list, comment will appear in dated order below. Not that my feelings count and I have not investigated all these candidate yet but they are my current priority.
The "running list" will reflect consideration sometime of only one issue in prioritizing them, but they are probably all good. One issue alone could also put things in reverse order, for all I know Vilsack could be best. This is only an explanatory preface, hopefully not an attempt to cover myself. ***
[Original entry]
Vilsack
[added: 1-16-07 ]
Kucinich
Exploratory Committee:
Obama
[added: 1-17-07 ]
Edwards
These are in no particular order, I will comment on that later, but at this time Obama is in his exploratory phase. In the previous election I sent my first email with comments to the Kucinich camp, and continued to forward and Cc: each candidate till I arrived at my choice. Then I reviewed the candidates at Backbone Campaign * to rethink things . My choice was Howard Dean. Well it makes me want to scream as we know how that ended, but now we can scream because we know where we are, and Dean is the head of the DNC. I did not really plan to post this much now, but we have much more of a road to hoe, and I really don't want to jump on a bandwagon, and would really like a 20-mule team of great candidates so that we can sort things out even more, so that we don't have more wars and a president who is finally ready to feign dialogue while demanding a plan from the opposition. This is not a call for a plan or opposition, but to look at what each says and does. I did not really plan to go on this riff either, but just tossing things in the air, Edwards is a candidate I had enthusiasm for based on past considerations. But I look forward to processing all of these great candidates who are so good, I almost refrained from comment so far...
[added 1-18-07] Dodd a candidate long overdue, but too long?
Republicans ? **** and wannabes?
* [added 1-18-07] I will keep this * at the bottom as it will footnote here that this link does not have the presidential candidates yet, or needs to be changed.
** Obama will be left off until he declares, here Clark is inserted for Hope sake. For history sake I note the original five candidates in this order: Edwards, Clark, Kucinich, Vilsack, Dodd
*** I will not alter footnotes, comments will be inserted just above these footnotes, link below and others will be improved with time.
**** MoveOn.Org in this link is labeled a liberal group. I do not consider that it's draw, but was the forefront of pragmatism and progress that heralded the likes of Howard Dean.

In the Beginning
is Rhetoric*.
Paraphrased: Everything begins with rhetoric.
i.e. there were many nice Iowa speeches
It seems very parallel to "all religions begin as cults."
Also very Platonic in relation to form.
In terms of the idea and the ideal,
not necessarily in kind.
Not to run with caricatures, but what is that look on Romney's face?
A hard to be humble when I'm lying look? Or a devil may care but I don't look? Or is that his do, or due?***
* I wish I could remember who said something close yesterday. Either a candidate or a commentator.**
BTW: ledeRship is often provocative [sic/pun]
Bring it On! The Table[!]
Footnote: [!] / Irony.
[** who else is there?]
[Related later comments Thom Hartmann Show.
Rough notes on Romney/Bachmann: He fears us being European. She touts China as example.
Sanders on Colbert, Citizens United.]
*** NPR & NYTimes ( retrack, field narrowed, what it means, Republican Strategist, Foreign Affairs, Romney, Obama v. Congress. Bachmann out, Dionne/Continetti, End Run Recess Appt., good riddance)

Poetic Justice
Right Face Left Faith
Great minds think alike
But being alike does not make right
Being right may make might
But more important is thinking
Right?
Being right is more likely
Why great minds will think alike
Thinking may not be so likely
In those that just think might
Right.
Faith is nowhere near alike
The truth that others think is might
Faith is might and more like maybe
Unless you only think it's right
Not maybe!
(link to updated commentary)
Fearnauts
There is no good and evil.
There are only goods and needs
and wants, and no freedom
from them.
So work on the good,
not just the goods
and justice will flow,
not evil.
Fear not but face good
and fear will fly.
Fearnauts may fly,
but will is not
just the stuff of dreams.
Fear may be,
but results,
don’t have to be
but will.

Technical Difficulties
Anomalies or Synchronicities? By definition they are hard to explain. But there was first the missing link that I referenced here and then the Eli Pariser "bubble" context. Then there is the Wrap(5***) problem* and follow up **.
* in context is biased
** also needs follow-up and labels
*** anomoly (2) / anomaly(1) (W itch Are)
[then there is the Al Gore Rhythm Spell Check problem, and follow ups.]
(note: numbers in (brackets) are links as found in search to check any change in the algorithms C-W r a p(5).)
Note: Psychology Label added, Physics and Philosophy already applied(6), not necessarily used well.
[By Jove I may have it.]
[Speaking of hunches Gingrich may be wit Mitt. He may be making Mitt and others look good, and working the churned media for his own Obamanation.]
Thursday, May 19th, 2011
Technical difficulties is no pun on Speaker Boehner calling the government broke or Ed Schultz calling it broken. Or was it? Given the anomalies and synchronicity theories who knows? But it was about looking at my own modus operandi and then blogspot having its difficulties and Eli Pariser's TED Talk on the Internet. The word follow-up(4) may have popped up and is applicable(2 to insert here).
Friday, May 20th, 2011
Speaking of difficulties, I had to correct yesterday being Friday. I guess I get a second shot. Note Psychology Label added for reasons then above and follow up, references "rational expectations" not to mention talk and guts. (Bush v. Lakoff) Speaking of talk, yesterday's inserts (2 became 3) are economic talks(YouTube) from INETeconomics.org. And a reminder that problem* above is a Koch Brothers spin. And note to self** is still pending* while I might return to Risk and Robustness.
Since it is Friday and I have several posts in draft that relate to this link, I might note that this is still under construction if I ever get back to it. But in this regard I will say that this is the first INET link I watched and have found several others I might recommend that have been imbedded above but will simple list here:

Update: Hullabaloo!
[Sent to Seattle PI, 12-23-02]
CLASSROOM PERFECT FORUM
The outcry arising from Patty Murray’s words could be very helpful if it actually gets people thinking. Unbeknownst to many of her opponents is their own point, that it is actually wrong to think or ask questions. They give no credit to the students who were able to follow[*] her words in a context without belaboring the obvious evils of Bin Laden. They charge falsehood where they can’t tell the difference between our gross contributions and the greater contributions of others by percent of GNP.
If we are somehow right and don’t need to consider other views, how can we not expect others to think the same? If the evil that Bin Laden has done should somehow erase any good, and prevent us from mentioning it, why are we not allowed to consider any bad that is done in our name to prevent it from damaging the great good that we do? If we can choose not to look at our own wrongs, how can we hope that others will consider theirs?
If we can do no wrong, then this thinking is not necessary. If we don’t have the guts or mind to face good questions, it is easy to give up on thinking, for violence. Our government has endorsed violence as a threat in hopes of prevention, as a response to provocation, as retaliation for evil, and now as preemption for presumed evil. Now we are somehow expected not to consider what others are thinking, let alone what we mean by our actions? It should be easy to see how many people can fall into such behavior, but not without thinking. Men and women are still fighting and dying and I don’t think it’s for the right to shut up, curb our questions or ignore wrongs wherever they exist.

McCain gives response "to that heart felt statement"

And tort reform from Hillary? Not exactly.
QCON: Working group a good idea,
but link of war to economy is key. Reform of system that puts investor profits and executive bailouts over failure of so-called free markets, may be a pincer attack that Obama and Clinton can perform on the trickle-down. Meanwhile as far as pressure to get out of Iraq, remembering who the commander-in-chief is, not that he should get his way, but his way of getting out may be hampered by who he and his crowd are. Mis-Infotainment Tonight
Well, last night.
Since it is likely that the above link will be pulled* from the internet, this proves there is a conspiracy of the liberal media.
Nevertheless, I will comment on Bill O'Reilly's interview of Dennis Miller, comedian.
Dennis Miller makes Bill O'Reilly look...like a "fair and balanced" interviewer. Dennis Miller makes Jonathan Swift look...like a satirist.
I could go on, but it was all about Dennis Miller and... hate and... lame at that. Except for one laugh: "I don't know why people say things out loud sometimes. I think maybe..."
Speaking of lame: Rachel Maddow is spoofed on SNL. I don't know if it is just me, the characters or the writers, but it was not so funny. Maybe it is hard to spoof someone who is funny and doing a good job, without needing to do an even better job. Burris may even fall into that category, but it could be just in comparison toBlog-oy-ya-bleep.
For more fun'n edifying:

FOR ACTUAL Fun'n Edifying:
The Stephanie Miller Show
The Randi Rhodes Show
* this link was emailed with the urgency that it was going to be pulled from the internet because Democrats did not want the truth out there. It is not.
[For the irony challenged, I flip-flop between facts and "frame of reference"** rather than straight satire. So I will con descend to flip the con text: It is not at this point pulled or the truth.]
** apparently the genre of the right, not to mention the Miller's...
LOCAL RADIO and Real Infotainment.(Time Stamp 9:10 AM)
And National Fun'n Edifying:
The Daily Show
The Colbert Report(TS 9:40 AM)
And for real "fair and balanced" see Huffington Post though not really radio or TV. But something must be "read into" that by Bill Kristol: The reason conservatives had food is that they provided it, which was nice for Will to host Obama, while the "liberals" were invited by Obama and he was just being conservative or not letting you read something into that also.

Burris may even fall into that category, but it could be just in comparison toBlog-oy-ya-bleep.

Voting Course Not Curse
[Submission to local paper: September 14th, 2004]
Michael Medved’s "Fringe party sickness…" brought a cringe and later pause for thought. From Bush’s imperfections as a reason to vote for him that indicates being "mature enough to understand the workings of the Republic" to the claim that conservatives "should cure themselves of the sick infatuation with pathetic fringe parties" it came together. There is concern that there are not more choices and that other parties act as spoiler, but maybe a rational look would include the Green factor in 2000. But it was the "Does any rational observer really believe President Bush is evil? That got me.
I hope for rational observers too, but does any one really believe President Bush period? They try to paint things "good and evil" and now they want nuance and rational. Bet that they know the workings of the Republic, but wonder and worry about the workings of democracy and freedom. The nuance is in choosing when to see the choice between "good and evil" as metaphor, and when you think something is real or when it is our only choice.
A vote for a fringe candidate is not a vote for Bush or Kerry. Understanding does not mean results. Voting is the only thing black and white. Voting fringe sends a message that it can’t get any worse but can have the opposite result. Vote nuance over being flippant and flopping all over the world without a map. Vote Bush for change without a course. Vote Kerry for understanding and working.

Myth-Buster
"A media parable for "The Center"
by Norman Soloman,
www.OurFuture.org
Speaking of future...
Justice is the whole point of our society. The judgement of history is not enough.
* CLICK HERE for your judgement.
It seems that impeachment is the only remedy. Unless there is some unknown clause that will protect the legal process from pardons, the only abuse of power seems to be that of congress to allow it. That may be the judgement of history.
* Seriously, an action item request.
[In summary this is about the media spin and the political ramifications of missing the center. And also about my Rachel Maddowing superstition going back to pre-Clinton. Meaning: Clinton (Bill) was not my cup of tea, but I opted out emotionally for the good of the country. Look what happened. The country first worked, and then the vast right-wing-conspiracy took over. If these words click you off, then don't link here.

Between the charges
and between the lines:
I am not sure if it was from this article: A.I.G. Using "Suicide Strategy" to Push Bonuses by Matt Renner TruthOut.org but it occurred to me that these bonuses were hush money. That is probably what is referred to above. But in my mind, trade secrets were not only a threat to the economy but also to the bubble blowing which was their job at AIG. And now "hush money" is more than just in my mind, but on Hardball in the AIG bonus backlash Rep. Gary Ackerman used the term. But that does nothing to topple my Humpty Dumpty allegory. Clarifying on 1600 Pennslvania Avenue Ed Schultz points out these are not performance bonuses but retention bonuses. That does not really buttress any charge as hush money, but it might be a good market indicator when such heavy bonuses are built in preemptively, and a preemptive indicator of market failure. And yet we have another controversy where charges are under defined, or interchanged as to what kind of bonuses are being talked about and the involvement of TARP.
[3-19-09 TARP updated and links added: AIG was prior to TARP and a look back.]
[Correcting an Impression (1): still confusion(2). My own missing (3) link.]
I may not be as confused as I think. Apparently $30 Billion latest AIG potential for drawdown has been caught in this confusion and is potential leverage. Who knew what when is still unclear and contradictory.(for 1,2,3 see continued.)
In their defense, A.I.G. said that they are contractually obligated to pay the bonuses in question. Not paying these bonuses, the company said, would cause their executives to leave the company and could trigger a collapse at A.I.G., which could set off a collapse around the world.

To Democrats in the Senate:
CAP THE FILIBUSTER!
First I would like to support the filibuster as one of the best protections for the rights of the minority. But here are a few questions I pose:
The only thing that seems to come from this is the understanding that progress is so hard to make. "Compromise" was a key word in the defense of the Republican's expecting some from the Democrats, but if voters will look at the bills presented, they must ask who and what is already compromised.
The answer to the first question may be: Because the Democrats want to get things done.
If there is any validity to the claim that Democrats are "do nothing"(which is a strategy the Republicans promote), how can that hold water, when the minority Republicans won't allow votes to be held, even when they would be vetoed. Not to mention the power a minority of Progressive Democrats are not using, to make sure nothing gets done when it is warranted.
May the Republicans long hold the Right of the minority. It should be clear the the Democrats are making compromises, not necessarily good or bad or getting anywhere. But sometimes they are holding together. That is another number to watch.
First I would like to support the filibuster as one of the best protections for the rights of the minority. But here are a few questions I pose:
Why are Republicans not required to hold the floor if they are filibustering?
I would suggest that a cap be put first on cloture votes and keep them talking to show who is stalling.
What is the number of cloture votes taken versus successful legislation passed? (1 in 6 as of July.)
It would seem that things are already mucked up quite a bit, with cloture vote on top of cloture vote, just how would they carry on all this filibustering at the same time?
It seems difficult to right this course, and the Democrats are at the helm.
The Democrats had a period of success and "hard work" at the start of the session, I think it is time they put their foot down, and start forcing filibusters. There are only so many hours to congress. Is there not a time limit for each and are there enough hours left?

P.M. Update: Just a note on Mike Malloy (self-described of the "Real Left"[***])had a good rant for people tonight. Actually, I wish I could be more detailed or nuanced*, but I hope it will come back to me. Now that's the story. But it just might be...come on, give Obama a shot.
*I wonder if sarcastic irony comes out even?

(*) Washington State is undergoing a simultaneous electoral evolution and court fight over the Top Two Primary. Hence(apparently)the difficulty in finding out how the ballot will look with or with out labels of D and R selected by the parties or just preferences by the candidate at their choosing. In particular Aristotle and his physics not supplanted till Newton.
Just where am I coming from and where am I going? Good question, but for the moment I accidently clicked on a number of years ago and hit upon examples of the ongoing interpretation. [Interpretations and rules of power.(Or Not)]
[BTW: I have a few labels to catch up on, but I will make another connection. Prior to the earthquake, with the passing of David Broder, it occurred to me that one should not feel a loss, based on which side of the political spectrum(or geography) one is on. Not that it does not matter to many people. After the earthquake it is still all about how it effects us, not about how it impacts those that were closer to the problem.* But it is not wrong to politically learn from tragedy, or just plain expect be the cause. Not that I connect the cause, but there are laws, and always time for pause.]
* not to minimize nor distract from the Japan suffering, but it is very ironic that Ronald Reagan a product of GE, had his nine most dangerous words ("I'm from the government and I'm here to help.") and then his namesake USS Ronald Reagan has to navigate the perils of radiation from a product of GE.

Bailout!
Republican opposition to old plan.
In McCain's acceptance speech I believe he talked about reaching for a hand across the aisle. Today he apparently reached across networks if not the nation. In the earlier instance I imagined him giving that hand a good yank with an evil grin. Today he did just that, but with a more dazed look.
Here is how it played out:
Obama asks McCain for Joint Economic Statement
McCain Cancels Letterman Appearance for Katie Couric
Bush has new plan.
Sounds a bit like the Democrat's plan.
Rachel?
Long story short? Talking Points?
Panic Intercepted by Politics.

HIT AND RUN (QCON)
"HIT AND RUN" is my term for the Righty Republicans. Righty Republican is another running with terms. This blog has been about Running with Rhetoric. Rhetoric, like politics or the law, is not good or bad, but that is another story.
QCON is an acronym, for Quick Comment On the News. It also runs in line with this post. It suffices to stand for Questioning Cons, and that is the link to the Hit and Run. The Hit and Run refers to the crowd, usually the Righty Republicans who would bash the so-called "Liberal" media or press" while running from the questions. Tommy Thompson recently did an amazing "hit and run" on the abortion issue.
Now in these cases of representing such an exchange it may make more sense to skip from the transcript. A closer look may ruin my thesis. But the portion I did hear, had him for making abortion illegal, but sending people to jail was a "liberal" thing. By Jove I believe I did it. A one liner.
But on another track, "liberals" are about running the government, not running from responsibility for their actions or questions, while Righty Republicans are about bashing and running for it.

AIG should reconsider name change.
It is ironic that AIG should attempt a name change. Now that AIG is owned by US, is that the U of the "new" AIU Holdings Ltd.? Hopefully it is not Unlimited but so far it is Underthetable.
[I will leap to the point that the good name of the United States is at stake in this name change and the potential for changing minds about corporate welfare being at stake. Attempts to return TARP funds must include funds that came from any other bailout efforts and not in the expectation that things will return to the old way of doing business. I think that is implicit but it is yet to be resolved how or made explicit.]
What does the U stand for and why should AIG change its name now that taxpayers own 80% of it? Did we get a voice in that? And what about all that advertising* which went for naught?
* update [Speaking of Leviathans and who is too big?]
[Also a new look at the cost of advertising and the media should be taken in respect to free speech and freedom of the press as opposed to prepaid or bought and sold, views and news.]

Better him...
than US!
How could Mitt Romney possibly have been good for the country if he does not understand his own* message? It smacks of entitlements. Politics is everything.

Mitt not us or humpty, but it should be clear that even kings men or horses...
It has come to my attention that I might not be a member of Beyond the Norm. I will look back at that later. In the meantime, David Sirota has become a permanent part of the Norman Goldman Show.
